Commercial Manager Bryony Wellman completes her MSc!

Vercity Consultancy’s Bryony Wellman recently finished her MSc in Management and Leadership. She shares her journey here.

“Over the course of two years, I undertook the senior leader apprenticeship. This involved undertaking an MSc in Management and Leadership, as well as demonstrating 46 Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours, through a Portfolio, Professional Discussion, Work based project, and Presentation with Q+A.

Within the MSc I covered modules in a range of subjects, all focused on developing my knowledge and skillset as a leader and manager. To finish the MSc, I completed a 14,000 word Thesis (research project). I focused on ‘The impact of COVID 19, on leadership and employee wellbeing within the FM industry’. My work-based project was similar, taking the learning from my thesis, and focusing on developing a wellbeing strategy that could be implemented.

Completing the MSc as part of an apprenticeship, allowed me to implement my learning immediately. I particularly enjoyed the organisational behaviour module, as it allowed me to reflect on and improve my own leadership.

Undertaking the apprenticeship with Cranfield also allowed me to meet and network with a wide range of range of individuals. It was fascinating to understand how the learning could be reflected in different industries.

For example, a few individuals were from an F1 team, it was interesting looking at marketing and strategic operations from their perspective, as unlike traditional businesses, they’re not aiming to continually make profit, they’re aiming to raise funds to produce a fast car.

I learnt a huge amount over the course/apprenticeship, which I believe has made me a better leader and manager and will continue to apply this as I go through my career. It also allowed me to focus on my passion around supporting and developing individuals, particularly in relation to supporting mental wellbeing within the workplace.”
