The project
Hinchingbrooke Treatment Centre is a state-of-the-art NHS facility for the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. Vercity provides the management service agreement (MSA) for the project, with a particular focus on contract compliance to ensure the facilities management (FM) provider delivers its contractual obligations.
Approach
The Treatment Centre provides acute services for the people of Huntingdon and the surrounding area. In working closely with NHS staff and stakeholders, Vercity carefully plans the provision of lifecycle works. In this demanding environment, collaboration is key to delivering successful FM projects. Through sharing expertise across our portfolio, our client has access to insights from our commercial, technical, lifecycle, finance, and project management teams, which in turn, ensures quality standards are maintained and service users receive a positive experience at the Centre.
Process
In managing the MSA for the project, we help advance discussions, speed up the procurement process and achieve cost consistency. By aligning the terms on which our client does business, we ensure operations run smoothly and that the treatment centre achieve economies of scale. Our innovative operation management system creates value for our client by ensuring the lifecycle fund budget is being met and that progress is being made towards performance targets.
The result
The services provided at the centre include outpatients, day case procedures, short stay elective surgery, outpatient, and diagnostic appointments. In 2018, Vercity’s award-winning collaborative working won a BIFM Award for Customer Excellence. We continue to create a positive impact for the public sector whilst maintaining investor returns. Our established consultancy services provide support to project teams internally, working closely to deliver a high-quality service to the client.
Project impact
Hinchingbrooke Treatment Centre is situated adjacent to Huntingdon’s district general hospital. The centre’s outstanding, award-winning design was developed to complement new ways of working to deliver best patient care. More than 160,000 people rely on the full range of acute services provided within the facility. Dental services are also provided in partnership with the local dental practice. The Treatment Centre facilities, at the time of build, were considered to be the most advanced in the UK and looked upon as leading the way for the NHS.
Environmental Social Governance
A number of ESG initiatives have been implemented as part of the project, including a dodgeball charity event, LED light replacements, dementia signage around the treatment centre and the purchase of a Christmas tree for the Trust. The centre has also received energy efficiency measures and had flooring installs implemented to support the patient experience.
